Introduction to Ice Program

This short 3 - 4 week program is for youth who are 3 - 6 years old who have little, to no skating experienceEach class is 30 minutes in length and will feature age appropriate, off and on-ice activities including games and music. At the end of this program, students will be given a "Good Job" award with instructors evaluation notes. Ice skates and helmets required.  Skate rental available for $3 pr.

Andover Skate School - Ice Skating Lesson Programs

The Andover Skate School offers ice skating lesson programs for skaters, age 3 - adult. Classes include a 30 minute lesson and 30 minute on-ice practice time. The first week of class, coaches will teach safety precautions, introduce skills and ensure students are in the correct class.  Students will also receive a complimentary $10 punch card to use towards skate rental, skate sharpening and/or future open skate sessions. Students will be evaluated during the last two days of class and achievement cards and certificates will be awarded.  Students must pass all skills to advance to the next level.

Intro to Hockey - Jr Huskies

Jr. Huskies is a program sponsored by the Andover Huskies Youth Hockey Association for youth ages 3 - 8. This program will introduce youth to the sport of Hockey.  Youth participating in this program should have already participated in the Andover Community Center Introduction to Ice Program or have taken basic ice skating skills.  For more information, visit the AHYHA.


Q: What class should I register for?  Please note, level guide was revised, Fall 2015.
A: View the Class and Level Guide, choose the level that best describes skills needed. 

Q: Is skate rental available?
A: Yes, skate rental is available at the ACC Pro Shop for $3/pr. Pro Shop services also include skate sharpening ($4/pr), laces, tape, mouth guards and wax. Bike helmets are also available for rent $2 or free with skate rental.

Q: What type of ice skates should students wear?
A: Students should wear single blade hockey or figure skates. NO PLASTIC SKATES ALLOWED. Students registering for the FREESTYLE program are required to wear figure skates only.  

Q: What should students wear?
A: Helmets are required for all programs, with the exception of the FREESTYLE Program (helmets strongly recommended for new skaters). Students should wear a jacket, gloves, and long pants (no jeans). Layers are always recommended as the rink is cold. Don't forget to bring your single blade hockey or figure skates (remember no plastic skates are allowed), skate rental is available. 

Q: I feel my child needs to be moved to another level. How do I know?
A: If there is a child in any of our classes that needs to be moved, the coach will let the skating director know and we will move the child to the appropriate class. All students are moved at the discretion of the instructor and skating director.

Q: What if my child misses a lesson?
A: No credit or refunds are offered for missed lessons.  It's recommended that skaters practice skills they've learned in their classes during open skate sessions.
